Andhra Pradesh higher education council to take EAMCET to SC

APSCHE has said that it is the competent authority to conduct counselling
Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE) will approach the Supreme Court before the next hearing on the Eamcet counselling issue and seek directions. APSCHE has said that it is the competent authority to conduct counselling in the two states and is being forced to approach the apex court owing to the incessant delays in conducting of counselling.
While Telangana officials say that the matter is now sub-judice, SCHE chairman Prof. L. Venugopal Reddy pointed out that the apex court had never asked the states to halt or not begin the counselling process. Prof. Reddy held a meeting with Andhra Pradesh chief secretary I.Y.R. Krishna Rao on Tuesday and discussed the issue in view of the Telangana education department officials boycotting Monday’s meeting.
APSCHE officials also found fault with the Telangana government’s argument that the matter was sub judice. “There is no question of it being sub judice. The court even told the standing counsel clearly that the states could take up counselling and there was no need to wait for its decision,” a senior APSCHE official said.
The notification to Eamcet counselling will be issued on Wednesday.
