Culture bodies junked by N T Rama Rao to be revived

The Telangana CM is looking for a “Telangana touch” in every aspect of life

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s idea of ushering in a cultural renaissance in Telangana state (TS) will bring about the revival of Sahitya, Sangeeta, Nataka and Lalitha Kala academies — which were scrapped by former CM N.T. Rama Rao — besides installation of new statues of Telangana personalities.

The Telangana CM is looking for a “Telangana touch” in every aspect of life. Bonalu and Bathukamma have already been declared as state festivals and tennis ace Sania Mirza has been made the brand ambassador of TS.

“The CM is keen on the reviving Sahitya, Sangeeta, Nataka and Lalitha Kala academies. The government has earmarked Rs 1.5 crore in the budget for the same,” Dr R.V. Prasada Raju, director of culture, said.

“We are also planning to install the statue of poet Dasaradhi at a prominent place. It will cost about Rs 10 lakh,” he added.
