Fifty shades of doubt!

That hot steamy trailer is out. But are fans of the book happy?

The book had made headlines all over and Christian Grey had become almost every girl’s dream. Now, the trailer of the film Fifty Shades of Grey, an adaptation of the book of the same name, is making headlines. Unfortunately, the choice of Jamie Dornan to play Christian Grey has disappointed many.

The likes of Ian Somerhalder and Chris Hemsworth were rumoured to have been approached for the role, but it was ultimately Jamie Dornan who was chosen to play Grey in the erotic-romantic drama depicting the sexual relationship between Christian Grey and literature student Anastasia Steele.

While the Internet is talking about how this might be a wrong choice, many actors feel that it’s wrong to judge Jamie’s performance just from the trailer. T’town actor Prince Cecil says, “We should wait before we decide. It’s a much-awaited movie and they wouldn’t choose just anyone. Maybe the guy is a great actor. Personally, I loved the trailer.”

Rakul Preet who has read the book and had been waiting for the trailer says, “Everyone who has read the book has a different perception of Christian. To me, Jamie Dornan doesn’t look too bad as Christian. We will have to watch the movie before we start criticising him.”

But will the film find a release in India, with the Censor Board being stringent about graphic content, which the book is replete of? “I think it will release but only after a big edit. While some might be okay with the film being based upon sex, not many will be comfortable with it,” says Rakul.

And even if it releases here, the film will lose a big part of its storyline thanks to the cuts. Actor Purab Kohli agrees, “I haven’t read the book, but a lot of my women friends have and they have been talking about it; so I know what the book is about. If the film releases here, it will definitely lose its plot. If the film already has an A rating, I don’t get why it has to be cut again. The Censor Board should let people choose whether they want to see the film or not.”
