Swalath Congregation takes pledge against terrorism

Congregation began with a Hadith study session and concluded with a massive Iftar party

KOZHIKODE: Thousands of Sunni believers who gathered at the annual prayer congregation, considered the biggest in the state during the holy month of Ramazan, took a pledge to eliminate terrorism from the country.

The prayer congregation, organized by Ma’din Academy at Swalath Nagar in Malappuram on the 27th night of the holy month, began with a Hadith study session and concluded with a massive Iftar party. Thousands of devotees, who were praying and spreading the words of love and universal brotherhood remained at the venue till 3 am on Friday.

All India Sunni Jamiyyathul Ulama general secretary Kanthapuram A P Aboobacker Musliyar inaugurated the meet. He urged the Muslim brethren to stand united and to pray for the innocent Muslims tortured and tormented in Palestine.

Sayyid Ibraheemul Khaleelul Bukhari led various prayers and delivered the keynote address at the congregation. The devotees took a mass pledge against terrorism, extremism, communalism and alcoholism. The conference also moved a motion condemning Israel’s atrocities against Palestine.

More than a dozen grounds were prepared to accommodate the devotees who had come for the congregation. A few of them were exclusively reserved for women believers. Eminent scholars from countries like Australia, UK, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore and from several Arab countries were present on the occasion.
