YSRC, Telugu Desam trade ‘demon’ insults over farm loan waiver issue

Leaders of both the parties heaped insults on the opposition as debate for a new capital rages on

Jaganmohan Reddy: ‘Narakasura’ CM cheated farmers

Hyderabad: Taking an indirect dig at the TD government for selecting the Krishna-Guntur region as the state capital, YSRC president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy questioned why the government was promoting only one region.

He said the capital should have at least 30,000 acres of land available and should be centrally located with adequate water resources.

“Even in Krishna-Guntur region, the government should pick a location which has at least 30,000 acres of land,” he said.

Further criticising the CM for not keeping his poll promises, Mr Reddy called for a three-day ‘Narakasura Vadha’, when effigies of Mr Naidu will be burnt. He said protests will be taken up from July 24. While the total agriculture and DWCRA loans amount to Rs 1 lakh crore, Mr Naidu is waiving off only Rs 35,000 crore, he alleged.

“Why should there not be a 420 (cheating) case booked against Mr Chandrababu Naidu? In fact, an ‘840’ case should be booked against him,” Mr Reddy said

Elsewhere, YSRC Ongole MP Y.V. Subba Reddy met the Sivaramakrishnan Committee and proposed Donakonda in Prakasam as the capital.

Telugu Desam: People think Jagan is ‘Bakasura’

Hyderabad: It was yet another day of ‘Jagan bashing’ for the leaders of the ruling Telugu Desam.

One after the other, they held media meets to slam YSRC president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy for criticising Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on the farm loan waiver scheme.

Referring to Mr Reddy’s comment comparing Naidu with Narakasura (a demon from Hindu mythology), ministers Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, P. Pulla Rao and Devineni Umamaheshwar Rao compared Jagan with Bakasura (another demon in Hindu mythology).

Finance minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu said people did not vote for Jagan fearing “he would swallow the state like Bakasura”. “Jagan is unable to digest the fact that Chandrababu Naidu has waived off crop loans despite the fact that the state is facing Rs 17,000 crore in revenue deficits,” he said.

“Now, Jagan fears his party will not be voted to power even in the next elections. In fact, Jagan lost the elections because of his anti-farmer stand. he does not want farmers to get loan waiver and that’s the reason why he skipped the loan waiver in his manifesto,” finance minister added.
