Women passengers assault woman TTE on MMTS Train

Ticket less trio, coming from Vijayawada, was travelling to Hitec City from Secunderabad

Hyderabad: A woman Travelling Ticket Examiner (TTE) was allegedly assaulted by three women passengers in a running MMTS train at Begumpet on Wednesday morning.

The trio, who came from their native place in Vijayawada, was travelling to Hitec City from Secunderabad without tickets. When TTE A. Kausalya asked them for their tickets, they got into an argument with her and allegedly manhandled her. On a complaint lodged by the victim, the Nampally Railway Police took two of the women into custody, while the third absconded.

The incident occurred on the Falaknuma-Lingam-palli MMTS Train (No. 47150) at around 6.30 am, minutes before the train reached Begumpet railway station.

“The TTE found a group of passengers travelling without tickets, when she asked them to pay the fine, they started arguing with her and assaulted her,” said Nampally Railway Police Inspector G. Lingeswara Rao.

Ms Kausalya, who received minor injuries, stated in the complaint that the women passengers had also abused her in public.

“They abused me using offensive language and thrashed me for asking to pay the fine,” she said in her statement. Other passengers, who witnessed the incident, did not come to help her when she was being assaulted, she added.
