Supreme Court refuses to grant bail to Gali Janardhan Reddy

The apex court expresses concern over the delay in the investigation

Hyderabad: Supreme Court on Tuesday refused to grant bail to mining baron and former Karnataka minister Gali Janardhan Reddy, an accused in the Obulapuram mining scam case. The apex court expressed concern over the delay in the investigation.

The SC ordered that it would hear the case after three months. Janardhan Reddy has been languishing in the jail for the past three years. The Bench, headed by Justice H.L. Dattu, said Janardhan Reddy’s bail plea would be considered if the investigation in the case is not completed expeditiously. Janardhan Reddy filed the appeal in 2013, challenging the AP High Court’s decision to reject his bail.

Arrested on September 5 in 2011 along with his brother-in-law B.V. Srinivas Reddy, Janardhan Reddy has been denied bail several times. A CBI official of Hyderabad said, “The Apex court said it would hear the bail application after three months. There is no time frame set for us.”
