Bengaluru rape case: City Police Commissioner shunted out

Auradkar has been transferred in the wake of a series of rape cases

Bengaluru: Cracking the whip, the Karnataka government on Monday transferred Bengaluru police commissioner Raghavendra Auradkar in the wake of a series of rape cases, including that of a 6-year-old girl student in a public school.

Mr Auradkar has been transferred with immediate effect and posted as additional director general of police of Karnataka State Reserve Police.

Meanwhile, CM Siddaramaiah said that Goonda Act would be invoked against the skating instructor, arrested in connection with the rape of a six-year-old student, as he was involved in similar cases earlier.

On the demand made by JD(S) MLA Y.S.V. Datta, state home minister K.J. George said the government has instructed the police to examine some steamy scenes in Bollywood film “Hate Story 2”. Raising the issue, Mr Datta said that films such as “Hate Story 2” emboldens criminals to indulge in sexual assaults.
