The Prem in me is dead: Salman Khan

Actor talks about ‘lost innocence’ and how no one in B-town can beat him in charity

Salman Khan, who is currently trying to get back into his old ‘Prem’ image for a Barjatya film, is finding it a bit tough. The actor talks about the ‘Prem’ days and how no one in Bollywood can match up to his charitable activities.

Was he bored of fame? “No! It is passion that keeps every person going, whatever their profession maybe. I personally think of fame in these terms, ‘Jab tak fame hai, kaam hai... kaam hai toh paisa hai..... paisa hai toh sab kuch hai’.”

And what is stardom according to him? “I think any one can ‘eat’ my stardom in the next three or four years. But can any actor measure up to me on the lines of the Being Human Charitable Trust? I bet no one from the film industry can beat me on this platform. But if they do beat me, I will be very happy!” says Salman.

Asked about working with the Barjatyas in their forthcoming film Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, Salman says, “It’s great working with Sooraj and Raj Babu. However, the one thing that is clear is that Sooraj and Raj Babu are still the same. They have retained their innocence. I, however, have lost it. I am not the same ‘Prem’. I think I will be able to fit into this character like I did earlier only when I unlearn several things that I have picked up over the years.
