Prime Minister's relief fund to follow Gujarat model

The PMO in a statement said that Mr Modi called for several qualitative changes in the way the fund is managed

New Delhi: In line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s direction for restructuring of welfare schemes, the PM’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) is now headed for major changes.
After a review meeting of the PMNRF on Saturday, Mr Modi asked officials to re-plicate the Gujarat mo-del for selection of beneficiaries.
The PM directed that the poor and children be given priorities, while identifying the beneficiaries.
The PMO in a statement said that Mr Modi called for several qualitative changes in the way the fund is managed. While mentioning the Gujarat model, the Prime Minister directed that the selection of beneficiaries be done in a more comprehensive, scientific and humanitarian basis.
He sought that the children, poor and cases from government hospitals should get priority. He
also tressed that the cases involving life-threatening diseases should be accorded priority.
