BJP MLAs not keen to face polls in Delhi

Former Delhi finance minister Jagdish Mukhi was the front-runner for the CM’s post

New Delhi: After a high level meeting held with party MLAs, the BJP on Wednesday said that it would soon elect its leader of the legislative party, who will also be the Chief Ministerial face of the party in the Delhi Assembly.

State president Satish Upadhyay held a meeting with party MLAs, who reportedly conveyed their reservation against re-elections in the capital.

According to sources, all the MLAs have conveyed that they do not want fresh polls, rather the party should explore the possibility of government formation.

Mr Upadhyay said, “The party is open to all options pertaining to the present political scene in Delhi. We are exploring all possibilities. We are seeking consultation wi-th senior leaders on electing the leader of the legislative party. The leader will be elected soon.”

Former Delhi finance minister Jagdish Mukhi was the front-runner for the CM’s post as he is known to have good equations with all quarters in the party.
