EAMCET counselling awaits Government order

Students might have to forego some of their weekend holidays to make up for lost time

Hyderabad: Eamcet Counselling could begin by July 26. “Even if the government announces its decision, everything would depend on when they issue the Government Order. Unless a GO is issued by the government, counselling dates can’t be decided,” a senior official explained.

Officials said that counselling could start by July 26 if the GO was issued on Wednesday itself.

The first phase of counselling would then go on for about 12 to 14 days only after which classes can be commenced by colleges.

If there is a delay in issuing of the GO regarding fee reimbursement, counselling is unlikely to be held in this month.

The Andhra Pradesh government has been protesting the inordinate delay in the conduct of counselling due to the fee reimbursement stalemate.

Officials said that the fees of students belonging to Second, Third and Fourth Years, however, would continue to be reimbursed.

“Other states have already started their academic year and will be ahead of us,” AP Social Welfare Minister, Ravela Kishore Babu, said.

It is also likely that students might have to forego some of their weekend holidays to make up for lost time.

The Supreme Court had mandated that classes begin by August 1.

The Telangana government has already filed an appeal in the apex court asking for extension of the deadline till October end.

As AP CM N. Chandrababu Naidu demanded that the Telangana government clear the air over the latter's policy on fee reimbursement, Telangana CM K. Chandrasekhar Rao said the Telangana government would take the final call on the issue on Wednesday in its Cabinet.
