What’s your problem, Centre asks Telangana and Andhra Pradesh

Lack of initiatives by the respective Chief Ministers, moves Centre to mediate between them

Hyderabad: With the disputes between Telangana and AP governments increasing by the day, the Union home ministry has convened a meeting with the chief secretaries of both the states on July 17 in New Delhi to resolve them.

Several contentious issues like giving powers to the Governor on law and order in the common capital area, nativity norms, fee reimbursement, Polavaram etc, will be discussed in the meeting.

Telangana chief secretary Rajiv Sharma and his AP counterpart I.Y.R. Krishna Rao, will take part in the meeting.

With no initiative from any side, either at the Chief Minister level or at the minister level to resolve the issues, the Centre itself has decided to mediate between both the governments.

It has thus asked the Union home ministry to resolve the disputes between the two states by arranging a meeting with the chief secretaries and try to arrive at “amicable solutions” on the contentious issues.

The officials of the Union home ministry had drafted the AP Reorganisation Bill, 2014, for bifurcation of the state.

The officials are thus well aware of the issues concerning both the states and the provisions incorporated in the Bill for resolving the issues in case of any disputes.
