Andhra Pradesh to see ‘Sunrise’

State will release industry-friendy IT policy

Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh will soon come out with a new industrial policy incorporating 11 sub-sectors like IT, tourism, textiles, biotechnology, livestock, horticulture, ports, fisheries etc. that will attract huge investment, create employment and raise nearly Rs 50,000 crore revenue per annum.

Similar to Kerala, which is popular as “Gods Own Country,” Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu, wants Andhra Pradesh to be known as the “Sunrise Country”, a new nomenclature he has coined.

“It will be an investor- friendly policy. I brought Microsoft to Hyderabad and thereafter all MNCs followed. Andhra Pradesh too will soon have MNCs. Already industrialists from Singapore, Thailand and Japan have approached us to make investments in AP,” he said.

Releasing the white paper on industries, infrastructure and employment, the third in the series after assuming charge, Mr Naidu said the focus would be on identifying growth engines and developing them.

Without naming either Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy or Y.S Jagan Mohan Reddy, Mr Naidu said that AP had plunged into darkness due to scams and corruptions during previous governments in the last 10 years.

“As many as 16 SEZs are yet to start. Of the other 32 SEZs, one or two are doing reasonably well and the others are in starting stages. We are reviewing all quid pro quo deals, and will take back land allotted in violation of rules. Such land will be given to set up new industries. The entire process will be transparent. We will take lands of farmers if required and make them partners in the development process,” Mr Naidu said.
