Hyderabad to get CNG from Reliance India Limited

Recent Gail pipeline explosion at Nagaram has disrupted the supply of CNG

Hyderabad: As a stopgap arrangement to overcome the sudden shortage of compressed natural gas, the Bhagyanagar Gas Ltd. has made temporary arrangements with the Reliance India Limited for CNG supply. The Bhagyanagar Gas Ltd. resumed its supplies on Thursday evening.

The recent Gail pipeline explosion at Nagaram has disrupted the supply of CNG to Hyderabad, Medchal and Ranga Reddy in Telangana.

C. Parthasarathi, commissioner of civil supplies, held a meeting with the zonal manager of Gail as well as vice-president and state-level coordinator of the BGL, who said that the restoration process of the pipeline may take some time. The matter was then taken up with the ministry of petroleum and natural gas for supply of CNG to BGL from RIL till the Gail pipeline is restored.

“We have requested the Centre to allocate 53,000 standard cubic metres of CNG per day to BGL,” Mr Parthasarathi said.

“I have spoken to the joint secretary, ministry of petroleum and natural gas. The response has been positive,” he said.
