Telugu Desam panel unearths YSRC land scam

YSR government allotted one lakh acre of land in Seemandhra and Telangana illegally to various institutions

Hyderabad: The Cabinet sub-committee appointed by the TD government to examine the decisions of the previous Congress government has discovered that YSR government had allotted one lakh acre of land illegally to various companies.

The sub-committee’s meeting on Monday at the Secretariat under the chairmanship of finance minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu was attended by ministers Palle Raghunath Reddy, K. Atchennaidu and K. Srinivas.

After the meeting the ministers said that the YSR government has allotted around one lakh acre of land in Seemandhra and Telangana illegally to various institutions.

The YSR government had allegedly allotted 8844 acres of land in Lepakshi and Gorantla mandals in Anantapur district to Balaji Infrastructure Company to develop Lepakshi Knowledge Hub in 2008 but even after six years no work has started on the project.

The sub-committee discovered some more interesting facts while reviewing the Lepakshi Knowledge Hub. They said without starting any work the company mortgaged the 8844 acres to various banks and got loans worth Rs 800 crore by spending Rs 1 crore. They said when the previous government issued orders to take back the land Balaji company went to court and got a stay order.

The ministers said that the government is very firm about taking back the Lepakshi Knowledge Hub land. The ministers said that the government will appoint an efficient advocate to vacate the court orders.

They alleged that the YSR government had not followed any rules in allotment of the land. When officials were questioned they said that all transactions were done by the Chief Minister's office, and that no files were available regarding the same.

Meanwhile, the labour minister and the member of Cabinet sub-committee K. Atchennaidu said one Kiran Kumar Reddy has shares in Lepakshi Knowledge Hub.

It is not known if it is the former Chief Minister or some other person. There were no initials or address of the person concerned. He said officials have been asked to trace the identity of this Kiran Kumar Reddy.

Meanwhile, it was found that it was the former Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy who had issued orders to take back the Lepakshi Knowledge Hub lands. Following this Balaji Infra went to court and got stay order.
