Cabinet posts for two BJP Chief Ministers

Moves afoot to induct Raje, Parrikar in Central Cabinet

New Delhi: In a move aimed at averting the rise of any other “power centre” within the BJP, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is learnt to have approached some party Chief Ministers, like Vasundhara Raje of Rajasthan and Manohar Parrikar of Goa to join his government at the Centre.

Though the Chief Ministers have so far indicated their reluctance to shift to New Delhi, the two are being offered plum portfolios like defence and communications respectively.

Sources said that in his recent meetings with Ms Raje and Mr Parrikar, the Prime Minister invited them to join his government at the Centre, apparently on the pretext that their services could prove to be more meaningful at the national level.
