TMC spares MP Tapas after apology

Mamata Banerjee had on Tuesday described Pal's hate speech as a 'big blunder'

Kolkata: The Trinamul on Wednesday said it has accepted party MP Tapas Pal’s unconditional apology offered on Tuesday for his derogatory remarks against women and the matter ends there. “The Trinamul accepts Tapas Pal’s unconditional apology as the party believes the letter was written in right spirit, the tone and manner of the apology is right and the matter ends there,” party spokesman Derek O'Brien after a meeting with WB Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. He added, “Mamata made it clear that everybody has to be careful and responsible about what they are saying in public. She emphasised that a responsible public figure has to be very careful. She condemns whatever he had said.” A meeting, attended by party MPs, senior ministers and zilla sabhadipatis, was convened to chalk out the party’s strategy for the upcoming Parliament
session.
