Governor returns file to K Chandrasekhar Rao

Giving Chief Secretary status to Sadaram questioned

Hyderabad: Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan has returned a file pertaining to enhancing the status of present Legislature Secretary Dr S. Raja Sadaram to Chief Secretary and creating a Secretary General’s post in the Legislature to Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, for re-examination.

The Chief Minister recently told the State Assembly of his desire to enhance the Secretary’s rank to that of a Chief Secretary as there shall be due regard and respect to the legislature enshrined in the statute.

Later the Chief Min-ister sent the proposal to the Governor for approval, besides creation of the post of a Secretary General and extension of service by one more year for Mr Sadaram, who is already on extension after retirement last year. He is due to retire in August, 2014.

However after examining the proposal, Mr Narasimhan sent back the file seeking re-examination and sought to know the status of Legislature Secretaries working in other states.

He also seems to have raised a query whether Mr Sadaram, who has already retired and on extension of service, could be given Chief Secr-etary status.

However, the Governor has accorded approval for extension of Mr Sadaram’s services by one more year sought by the government.

When contacted, sou-rces close to the Chief Minister said the government will re-send the file giving all the clarifications sought by the Governor.
