Hyderabad: While Hyderabad collector M.K. Meena has taken a tough stand against unrecognised private schools by sealing the institutions over the last few days, Deputy Chief Minister Mohd. Mahmood Ali asked the collector to go easy on the schools. Over 98 private schools were sealed in the last few days in Hyderabad for failing to get their institutions recognised.
On Tuesday, Mr Ali went to the collector’s office. The Deputy CM held discussions with the collector for over an hour. Later, the minister and the collector interacted with the members of school managements. Mr Ali asked the collector to provide some relaxation to the schools. The managements sought three-month time.
“Most of the schools that have been sealed were operating without recognition for more than 10 years. Several notifications were served and enough time was given. School managements have to follow the government rules. You have to have 25 per cent quota for weaker sections,” Mr Meena told the school representatives.
Later, the collector said that he would look into the matter of the schools that had applied for recognition, but did not get the certificates on time.
