iPhone 5S and 5C prices slashed by more than 50%

Price based on new line activation or eligible upgrade with 2-year contract

Walmart was seen slashing the prices of the iPhone 5S and the iPhone 5C by almost 50% on their online stores. The offer is available only from Walmart and not from any other retailer—on shelves or online.

The prices are based on new line activation or eligible upgrade with 2 year contract. The iPhone 5S is presently listed for $99, while the iPhone 5C is listed at $29 with the carriers being AT&T, Verizon, Sprint and US Cellular for both models. These two models are entry-level variants of 16GB. 32GB models of the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C were also chopped down to $129 and $199 respectively.

According to a report by Computer World, the move, analysts predict that Walmart is emptying off the inventory in advance for the arrival of the next models (alleged iPhone 6), which are due this September. They also predict that the move could be a stunt to attract customers to the store.
