10 killed as 50-year-old building collapses in new Delhi

7 people who died are from two families staying on the 4th and 3rd floor

New Delhi: Ten people, including five children and two women, were killed while two others were critically injured when a 50-year-old dilapidated four-storeyed building collapsed in the congested Inderlok locality in New Delhi on Saturday morning.

Seven people who died are from two families staying on the fourth and third floor of the building.

The possible reason behind the mishap is believed to be the ongoing digging of an adjacent under-construction plot, which weakened the already vulnerable structure.

DCP (north) Madhur Verma said that a case under has been registered against unknown persons and anyone found responsible will be booked. North Delhi Municipal Corporation PRO Yogendra Singh Mann said that an assistant junior engineer and a junior engineer have been suspended and a probe has been ordered.
