YSR Congress seeks governor’s help to keep its flock together

YSRC demanded to hold ZP chairman and municipal mayor elections immediately

Hyderabad: The YSR Congress has sought Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan’s intervention to keep its flock together. Following defections to the ruling Telugu Desam, the YSRC has asked the Governor to hold elections for ZP chairman, mandal parishat president and municipal mayor elections immediately. It alleged the TD of poaching their cadres by throwing baits in an undemocratic manner.

YSRC MLAs met the Governor on Wednesday and told him that the TD is encouraging the migrations of leaders of other parties and, thus, making a mockery of democracy. The team also asked the Governor to order the state election commission to conduct pollss for the post of municipal chairpersons, mayors, MPPs and ZP chairpersons.

“The Governor favourably responded to our request on the issue. We will file a PIL in court against the attitude of the ruling party. Our party leaders won’t leave irrespective of the cheap tactics used by the TD to lure them. It is not proper for the state government to do so,” the MLAs said.
