Telangana Rashtra Samithi for conferred IAS officers

IAS-conferred officers to direct IAS, IPS recruits for induction in plum posts

Nizamabad: The recent transfer of two IAS officers from Nizamabad district shows that the TRS government is not going to be different from its predecessor with respect to having people who are submissive in the key posts.

Further, the TRS leadership is preferring IAS-conferred officers to direct IAS, IPS recruits for induction in plum posts. However, the transfer has sent wrong signals to people as the duo worked hard and ensure smooth conduct of the general polls recently. According to highly placed sources, IAS officer Raghunandan Rao’s name is doing rounds for Nizamabad district collector post, which was vacated by P.S. Pradyumna recently.

The TRS leaders are also exercising on shortlisting names of other officers, whom they would like to have in key posts. Mr Pradyumna had to quit soon as the TRS came to power in the state, owing to the communication gap between him and the party MLAs. A few legislators felt that the IAS officer ‘ignored’ them while conducting official programmes and wanted his transfer.

TRS MLAs, led by agriculture minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, complained against Mr Pradyumna to Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao over his ‘high-handedness’. Finally, the government shifted him with immediate affect and made joint collector D. Venkateshwar Rao as the in-charge collector.

The other one who has been shifted by the TRS government is direct IAS officer Hari Narayana, who worked as sub-collector of Bodhan. After shifting the IAS officer, the government posted RDO-cadre officer at Bodhan.

In the Congress regime too, bureaucrats who were obedient to the leaders, were preferred. However, the then irrigation minister P. Sudarshan Reddy, belonging to the district, was different. He had given a free hand to the state bureaucrats to post efficient officers, particularly direct recruits in Nizamabad district. He did never interfere in either the shifting or promotion of the officers. Now, the TRS leaders want efficient leaders, who would heed to their suggestions, in key posts.

"Theofficers should have cordial relations with us and work hard for the development of the district," TRS leader said. Meanwhile, a section of the district officers approached the TRS MLAs seeking their co-operation for smooth administration activity while few others have begun lobbying for transfer from the district. In Nizamabad district, all the nine MLA posts and the two MP posts have been bagged by the TRS. A couple of them are known for their pressure tactics.
