Telangana Congress yatra on submerged mandals

Congress took up ‘Mano Dhairya Yatra’ in the submerged mandals

Khammam: The Congress which fared poorly in the elections in Telangana, appears to be keen on keeping alive the issue of mandals getting submerged due to the Polavaram project.

The party evolved a multi-pronged strategy to gain the confidence of people and embarrass the TRS government. It took up ‘Mano Dhairya Yatra’ in the submerged mandals to get people ready for agitations in future. The Opposition has also decided to corner the TRS government for the state of affairs in Bhadrachalam division.

The Congress led by Rajya Sabha member V. Hanumantha Rao and Madhira MLA Bhatti Vikramarka launched the ‘Mano Dhairya Yatra’ in Bhadrachalam on Sunday. Mr Rao said the people of the submerged mandals were shocked by the Central Ordinance and it should be removed first.

“Chief Minister Chandrasekhar Rao has not shown interest in solving problems of people. He was concerned about coming to power in Telangana and ignored the adivasis,” he alleged.

He said that the party would continue its fight against Centre and Andhra Pradesh government to ensure justice to the innocent tribes here.

Madhira MLA Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said that Telangana government should send All Party Delegation to Delhi immediately to resolve the issue. He said that the Congress leaders would visit all the submerged mandals in the district and make an attempt to instill confidence among the people. He said that the people were in fear psychosis with the Ordinance and they feared of waiving off ration and power cuts to them. “We will raise these issues in the assembly”, he said.
