Centre vows to set up Indian Revenue Service campus in Andhra Pradesh

IRS recruits training academy would be set up either in Anantapur or Chittoor

Hyderabad: The Central government assured the Andhra Pradesh government that it would set up an IRS recruits training academy, either in Anantapur or Chittoor, on par with the IAS and IPS training academy at Mussoorie. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said that he would allot 150 acres of land to the academy which will be the first permanent centre for the Indian Revenue Service recruits in the country.

Telugu Desam parliamentary leader Sujana Chowdary said Union finance minister Arun Jaitley has already assured to set up the academy which will be formally announced in the 2014-15 annual budget.

“Presently, there is no permanent training campus for the IRS recruits. Now Andhra Pradesh will get the campus for all the probationers, with the Chief Minister coming forward to allot land either in Anantapur or Chittoor districts, so that both trainers and probationers will be connected to Bengaluru or Chennai,” he said.
