Osmania University V-C Prof. S Sathynarayana’s tenure is ending on July 14

Hyderabad: Osmania University V-C Prof. S Sathynarayana’s tenure is ending on July 14. Several OU professors, including retired ones, are in the race for the post. Sources said that retired Prof. S. Bhupathi Rao, Prof. P. Purushotham Rao, OU registrar Prof. K. Prathap Reddy, Arts College principal Prof. Sankasala Mallesh, APSET director B. Rajeshwar Reddy, OSD to V-C Prof. R Nageshwar Rao, business manage-ment department principal Prof. V. Shaker, PGECET director Prof. Madhusu-dhan Reddy and many others are in the race.

Prof. Bhupathi Rao has tried for the post for 20 years but failed. But this time, luck may favour him as he is a senior professor and is known as an able administrator. He also belongs to the CM’s community. Nobody knows whether the community factor will play a role but Prof. Bhupathi Rao is seriously trying to bag the post. Commerce professor Purushotham Rao is also in the race for the post. He too belongs to Bhupathi Rao’s community.

Prof. Prathap Reddy, Prof. Rajeshwar Reddy and Prof. Madhusudhan Reddy are also testing their luck. Prof. Prathap Reddy is now holding the registrar’s post, and that may become a hurdle for him.
Prof. Rajeshwar Reddy has held several posts. Engineering college professor Dr Madhusudhan Reddy is also interested, but according to sources he has not yet launched a bid.

There are some young professors too in the race like Prof. Sankasala Mallesh and Prof. Shekar. Prof. Mallesh is heading the Arts College, and he is an SC. Prof. Shekar, who is the son of former vice-chancellor Prof. Ramakrishnaiah, is also trying his best to bag the post. Another SC candidate prof. Nageshwar Rao is also in the race. On the other hand a rumour is doing the rounds that the present vice-chancellor Prof. S. Sathyanarayana is also in the race for a second term.

Prof. Sathyanarayana was nominated for the higher education department vice-chairman post in united AP but did not join. He is expecting another term in case he didn't get the higher education department chairman's post in Telangana.
