New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has accepted the resignation of National Disaster Management Authority vice-chairman M. Shashidhar Reddy, who, along with five other members of the agency, were asked to resign a few days ago. The Prime Minister, who is also chairman of the NDMA, has accepted the resignation of Mr Reddy, who along with other members, had been appointed by the previous UPA government.
Sources said the resignation of the NDMA members will also be formally accepted shortly. Apart from Mr Reddy, the others who have resigned from the NDMA are CISF former director-general K.M. Singh, former civil aviation secretary K.N.

All of them have been asked by Union home secretary Anil Goswami to resign after the BJP-led NDA government came to power at the Centre. The NDMA vice-chairman enjoys Cabinet rank while the eight other members are of minister of state rank.
Mr Reddy was initially appointed an NDMA member in 2005 but was promoted to vice-chairman in December 2010. A few of the members were appointed in 2005 and reappointed when they completed their five-year tenure. Others were appointed in the last two to three years.
