5 NDMA members quit after PMO advisory asking them to quit

Hyderabad: National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) vice-chairman Marri Shashidhar Reddy has tendered his resignation to the post.

Speaking to the media in New Delhi on Thursday, Mr Shashidhar Reddy said he has sent his resignation papers to Prime Minister Narendra Modi three days ago.

Mr Shashidhar Reddy was appointed as vice-chairman of the NDMA during the UPA government. The vice-chairman enjoys the rank of a Cabinet minister while eight other members enjoy the rank of a Union minister of state.

Five members of the NDMA also tendered their resignations following an advisory issued by the Prime Minister’s office (PMO) asking all members of the body to step down.
