Mystic Mantra: ‘Good times’ for women?

Punishment alone cannot, bring about change in men

The present ruling party came into power by successfully selling a dream: “The good times are coming.”

Unfortunately, the moment they came into power there was an explosion of crimes against women, as if the rapists were out to prove that the good times may be coming for men but the nightmare for the women is not yet over.

We have to understand deeply that the law or the police or all the power of the government cannot stop women’s abuse because the root cause is India’s patriarchal culture.

Down the ages it has conditioned boys to feel superior to girls.

The conditioning starts in early childhood. Boys see their mother being beaten by their father, tortured by their grandparents and the mother discriminating between girls and boys.

It is imprinted on their minds that women are a “use and throw” commodity. There has to be a drastic change.

First, we have to accept that it is sexual repression that turns Indian men into woman haters.

They hate the woman because she reminds them of their sexuality which cannot be fulfilled in the tight social system.

Osho warned again and again: “The society goes on making you very serious about sex. It goes on making you repress your energies. There is a limit to repression; after that limit, the energy takes over. Whenever a man commits rape, he is not in his senses, the rape cannot help him to solve his problem. The rape cannot give him the joy that his whole physiology is asking for. But you have left no other way. You have forced the man into such a condition that he simply explodes like a volcano. Seeing a woman in a lonely spot he forgets the consequences. He becomes almost like an animal.”

The second fact to be reviewed is the vicious circle of crime and punishment. Osho insight is of great importance.

He says that no criminal have ever been converted by punishment. You only make him a bigger criminal.

Indian men alone can bring the good times for women if they are educated to respect women.
