Dissident Assam minister offers to quit

I have offered my resignation to end the stalemate, says Himanta Biswa Sarma

Guwahati: In a dramatic turn in the ongoing dissident activities, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday offered to resign from the state Cabinet. Mr Sarma, the leader of the dissident camp, met Mr Gogoi at his residence on Sunday.

“I have offered my resignation to end the stalemate and enable the CM to reshuffle his council of ministers. I have also informed Mr Gogoi that three other ministers of my camp are ready to resign if he desire them to do so,” Mr Sarma said. Claiming that they have full faith in the leadership of Sonia Gandhi, Mr Sarma said that they have given up the demand for convening a Congress legislature party meet to discuss the crisis.
