Sonia wrote letter to Speaker, saying her party should get post of Leader of Opposition

New Delhi: Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Thursday wrote a letter to Speaker Sumitra Mahajan, saying her party should get the post of Leader of the Opposition, as there is no rule of 10 per cent strength in the House and it deserves to get it for being the largest Opposition party.
Sources in the party said the idea to dash off letter to the Speaker was to test PM Narendra Modi’s commitment in Parliament on Wednesday that he would take the Opposition along in all decisions. Though the letter is addressed to the Speaker, the ball is actually in Mr Modi’s court as to whether his government concedes or opposes the post to the Congress, they added.
