Heat wave hits poor man’s Ooty

The areas surrounding Srikakulam town recorded 43.5 degrees Celsius

Srikakulam: Heatwave in Srikakulam for the last two days claimed three lives in three different mandals of Laveru, Burja and Ranastalam in the district.

Srikakulam town and surrounding areas, which are known as the poor men’s Ooty, recorded highest temperature of 43°C on Wednesday and 43.5°C on Thursday.

The dead were identified as V. Apparao, 55, of Lavetipalem village in Laveru mandal, Botta Thavudu, 63, of Allena village in Burja mandal and B. Pydithallemma, 60, of Pydipeta village.
