Live wire electrocutes worker near Hyderabad

The victim died before he was brought down to the ground from the electric transformer by his colleagues

Hyderabad: An APCPDCL contract employee was electrocuted while he was trying to repair an electric line at Goshamahal on Tuesday.

The incident led to protests at the local sub-station.

The victim, Sham Mohan, died before he was brought down to the ground from the electric transformer by his colleagues.

The incident happened in full public view.

“With a sudden sound, smoke started emanating while he was repairing an electric cable on the top the transformer.

Soon, his colleagues switched off the line and brought him down. But he was already dead,” said an eyewitness.

Begum Bazaar police officials said that Mohan's body came in contact with an electric cable while the power supply was still on.

Locals and victim’s family members protested at the local sub-station alleging that the negligence of APCPDCL authorities caused his death.
