National Commission Women seeks report in UP rape case

NCW has summoned director- general of police with investigation report

New Delhi: Rubbishing the Uttar Pradesh government’s claim that rape of Badaun girls was a case of honour killing, the National Commission for Women (NCW) has summoned the director- general of police (DGP) with the investigation report.

“The police has given an irresponsible statement by calling it a case of honour killing. We do not buy this argument so we have asked the DGP to appear and give us the details of the report,” NCW chairperson Mamta Sharma said.

The ADG and the SP of human rights commission in UP appeared before the NCW on Monday. “The DGP will have to give the report. The human rights commission people has nothing to do with the case. It’s a clear-cut case of rape and murder, its shocking to see the manipultation on the part of police officials,” added Ms Sharma.
