Andhra Pradesh new capital near Guntur, hints CM Chandrababu Naidu

It will cost Rs 4-5 lakh crore to construct a capital like Hyderabad in 10 to 15 years

Hyderabad: It is official. The new capital of Andhra Pradesh will come up between Vijayawada and Guntur. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu announced this on Monday.

Speaking to the media at his residence, Mr Naidu said that the state capital should be decided by the state government and not by a Central committee.
He said if the capital comes up between Vijayawada and Guntur it will develop like Hyderabad city. It will cost Rs 4-5 lakh crore to construct a capital like Hyderabad over a period of 10 to 15 years.

He said the government is preparing a plan to benefit farmers and the public in land acquisition and in two days a policy will be announced.
He said that no state has been created without having a capital city.

Criticising AICC president Sonia Gandhi Mr Naidu said that she never spoke when the process of state bifurcation was going on, and now suddenly she asks the Centre about the development of AP. He was also critical of Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s stand on the Polavaram project and said that Telangana will also benefit from it.

Development in AP will be decentralised, he announced, and assured that all issues and facts would be put before the people. From Tuesday, he will tell the people the actual position of the government like he did when he was CM previously.

Mr Naidu said he would release White Papers on every department in the government. He will implement poll promises including waiver of farm loans and other issues.
