Gold, silver up on stockists buying, global cues

Gold prices rose to Rs 27,185 per ten gram; Silver at Rs 41,000 per kg

New Delhi: Gold prices rose by Rs 85 to Rs27,185 per ten gram in the national capital as buying activity picked up at prevailing level amidst a firming global trend. Silver also traded higher by Rs 250 to Rs 41,000 per kg on increased off take by industrial units. Traders said increased buying by stockists after demand from jewellers picked up at current levels and a better trend in the global markets influenced the precious metal prices.

Gold in Singapore, which normally sets price trend on the domestic front, rose by 0.2 per cent to USD 1,254.94 an ounce and silver by 0.2 per cent to USD 19.11 an ounce. In Delhi, gold of 99.9 and 99.5 per cent purity rose by Rs 85 each to Rs 27,185 and Rs 26,985 per ten gram respectively.

Sovereign, however, held steady at Rs 24,400 per piece of eight gram in scattered deals. Silver ready advanced by Rs 250 to Rs 41,000 per kg and weekly-based delivery by Rs 745 to Rs 40,815 per kg, while silver coins continued be enquired at Rs 75,000 for buying and Rs 76,000 for selling of 100 pieces.
