Kerala High Court issues notice to Governor Sheila Dixit

Court issued notice in connection to a PIL filed by A.V.George
Kochi: The Kerala High Court on Monday issued notices to Governor Sheila Dikshit who is also the Chancellor of MG University and to the State Government on a petition filed by Dr A.V.George, seeking to quash the order which ousted him from the post of Vice-Chancellor of MG University.
The notices were issued by Justice P.N.Ravindran. The petitioner was removed as the VC by the Governor pursuant to the allegations that he had misrepresented his qualifications in the bio-data which was submitted before the search committee, to be considered for the post of VC.
The court also allowed T.K.Sajeev, a former member of the Mahatma Gandhi University Senate who filed the complaint against A.V.George, to become a party in the case.
George argued that the negligence and fault on the part of the search committee had led to his removal from office, one-an-a-half-years after he had been appointed VC.
He argued that the biodata which he had formally submitted pursuant to the invitation of application on December 23, 2012, had not been considered. The search committee erred in not considering his biodata, he argued. He further argued that the Chancellor had acted on the request of the State Government.
