Telangana song sets celebration mood on formation day

People from across Telangana have come to Hyderabad to take part in festivities

Hyderabad: Telangana songs sung by popular folklore artiste Rasamayi Balakishan as part of the “Telangana Dhoom Dhaam” charged up the festive atmosphere. The gathering sang in unison “Jaya Jaya He Telangana,” the official song of the Telangana state as Balakishan and his team performed.

Telangana martyrs were also remembered on the occasion with many songs dedicated to them at the programme organised at Gun Park, the memorial of Telangana martyrs.

Mr P. Srinivas and his friends, who had come all the way from Khammam to participate in the celebrations, said, “It is a historic night for the crores of people of Telangana as the Telangana state has finally become a reality. We want to be part of it and will stay back in Hyderabad till tomorrow to witness the official Telangana state formation day celebrations at Parade Grounds.”

Students from the Osmania University Joint Action Committee, who spearheaded the movement for a separate state, were also part of celebrations on Tank Bund. “We had waited long for this day and hundreds of students have sacrificed their lives. Many of us are still facing hundreds of police cases for taking part in Telangana agitations. With the Telangana state now a reality, we want to forget all our sufferings and pain and concentrate on studies and reconstruction of the Telangana state,” said OUJAC leader Pidamarthi Ravi.

OUJAC held a massive public meeting at the Arts College to celebrate the birth of Telangana. Crackers were burst and sweets distributed to the students and faculty on the occasion. The cultural programmes performed by the students were the centre of attraction.
