A fortnight after poll defeat, no end to revolt in Mandya Congress

State Congress leaders are blaming each other for the poll debacle

Mysore: The clouds of rebellion still haven't cleared over the Mandya Congress defeat, even though the election to this parliamentary constituency concluded almost a fortnight ago.
Analyses and post-mortems are still under way to pinpoint the cause of defeat of popular Congress candidate Ramya, belying expectations and violating Congress Vice-president Rahul Gandhi's diktat.

While there's little doubt the high command will take certain hard decisions including action against those who worked against the party to defeat Ramya, supporters of Housing Minister M.H. Ambareesh and former CM S.M. Krishna have escalated the blame game and continue to trade charges.

A day after Mr. Ambareesh's supporters led by former MLA L.R. Shivaramegowda held a press conference in Bengaluru claiming they were blameless in Ramya's defeat, the rival group in Mandya hit back at the rebel star's faction. They said the high command was well-informed about the sequence of events in the run-up to the elections and also knew exactly where Ramya lost crucial votes.

AICC observer Sathyam and Ramya have submitted two different versions in writing to the high command, containing detailed information on the reasons for the Congress defeat in the Mandya LS segment.
