Robert Vadra likely to lose frisking exemption

NDA government is likely to review the entire list of VIPs for exemption

New Delhi: The BJP-led NDA government is set to review the exemption from pre-embarkation security checks at airports in the country that is currently granted to Congress chief Sonia Gandhi’s son-in-law Robert Vadra.

According to current rules, Mr. Vadra is entitled to the exemption when he is travelling with ‘SPG protectees.’ Also, the NDA Government is likely to review the entire list of VIPs for exemption from pre-embarkation security checks and may make some changes to the list.

Replying to a question on whether Mr. Vadra would continue to be on the list, civil aviation minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju on Thursday said, “Security should be meaningful not ornamental. It will depend on if the MHA feels there is a threat perception, and I am not talking about Mr Vadra.
