Foreigh premiers congratulate Modi and Sushma for their victory in recent polls

New Delhi: Chinese Premier Li Keqiang dialled Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s number on Thursday and told him that his government wants to establish a robust partnership with the new government and further develop bilateral ties.

Mr Modi, in turn, told him that China was “always a priority in India’s foreign policy” while also underlining his government’s resolve to utilise the full potential of the Strategic and Cooperative Partnership between India and China.

As the world continues to reach out to the Narendra Modi-led government, a spate of telephone calls are coming in from world leaders to congratulate the new government and to reaffirm their countries resolve to forge ahead with stronger ties.

While it is not known if it was by design or happen stance, among foreign leaders Premier Li and US secretary of state John Kerry have had the opportunity to speak first to Prime Minister Modi and external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj, respectively.

Also dialling in and speaking to external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj so far are leaders from Australia, Canada, South Africa, UK, UAE and Israel.
