Isha Chawla works for a cause

Actress is campaigning for basic amenities

Hyderabad: Actress Isha Chawla was recently seen promoting the SMS (Support My School) campaign, in a government high school in Secunderabad. The actress was campaigning for basic school amenities like toilets, drinking water and playgrounds. “Government schools see several dropouts because of these basic problems. The main problem is washrooms, especially for girls. They have to go home to use one,” said Isha.

When a soft drink company approached her with this campaign she couldn’t say no to it. The company has tied up with an NGO and has started providing these three facilities in the schools. “Girls either do not come to school or leave in the middle of the day and don’t come back — all because of not having a washroom in school. Education is important for everyone so I am supporting this campaign,” says Isha, who had previously worked with an NGO while she was in Delhi.

After this, the actress is planning to go to some schools in other districts too. Talking about her movies, the actress says she is waiting for her movie Jump Jilani. “The audio of the film will be released this week and the film releases in June,” she says. Isha stars opposite Allari Naresh and plays a Health Officer in the film.
