Stalemate continues over status of village staff

As per Andhra Pradesh State Reorganisation Act, staff will continue services where they are now for another few months

Khammam: With just one week left for June 2, the Appointed Day, the stalemate continues over the status of government employees working in villages that are to be transferred to the Andhra region. As of now, there is no information about the employees. But as per the AP State Reorganisation Act 2014, it appears that these staff has to continue their services where they are now for another few months. Sources in the district administration said that employees working in submergence villages will have to continue their service as there was no scope for options like the district and state level officials are getting.

“It’s not an easy task to replace nearly 2,500 employees working in these villages for Andhra government,” a senior official told Deccan Chronicle on Tuesday. However, the transfer of 136 revenue villages specified in G.O.Ms. No. 111 Irri-gation & CAD (LA IV R&R-I) Department, dated June 27, 2005, to West Godavari district is imminent and sure to be administered by the Andhra government from June 2, he added.

While this is on, the district administration had decided to recommend the government to transfer another 50 villages to Andhra in addition to the existing number of villages mentioned in the Act to avoid administrative problems, the sources said. Meanwhile, the revenue officials reportedly worked out a strategy to reorganise the remaining villages in Chintoor, Bhadrachalam, Burgampadu, Kukunoor, Velairpadu, Kunavaram and VR Puram mandals after the transfer of villages mentioned in the Act.

Errampet will be made headquarters for remaining villages in Chintoor, VR Puram and Kunavaram mandals. While Sarapaka replaces Burgampadu mandal as headquarters, villages in Velairpadu and Kukunoor mandals will be merged with Aswaraopet mandal.
