Congress may lose in Maharashtra, Haryana polls

Congress won one Lok Sabha seat in Haryana, two seats in Maharashtra

New Delhi: The Congress may lose the upcoming Maharashtra and Haryana Assembly polls as the rank and file is unsure of whether the Chief Ministers can face the Modi challenge against the backdrop of strong anti- incumbency against them.

While former Union minister Kumari Selja viewed that Haryana CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda should have taken the moral responsibility of the defeat and quit, Congress leaders in Maharashtra are blaming the central leaders for spoiling the premier state through the CM Prithviraj Chavan.

While the Congress won one Lok Sabha seat in Haryana,it got merely two seats in Maharashtra where it has been in power since 1999. Mr Hooda is seen as a strong leader till the Lok Sabha polls but the BJP’s victory in Haryana will not only consolidate non Jat voters in the state but make Jats passive due to the ten year rule of Mr Hooda.
