Krishna Rao to be Chief Secretary, J V Ramudu as DGP of residuary Andhra Pradesh

Naidu sought appointment of Ajay Sawhney as Principal Secretary to the CM-in-waiting

Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister-in-waiting N. Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday met Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan and requested him to appoint senior IAS officer I.Y.R. Krishna Rao as the Chief Secretary and IPS officer J.V. Ramudu as Director General of Police of Andhra Pradesh state. Mr Rao also accompanied Mr Naidu to the Governor’s office.

Another significant appointment sought by Mr Naidu was that of Ajay Sawhney as the Principal Secretary to the AP CM-in-waiting. During the hour-long meeting, the Governor and AP CM-in-waiting have reportedly discussed allotment of IAS and IPS officers to the AP state. Mr Naidu also requested Mr Narasimhan to appoint senior bureaucrats G. Sai Prasad and A. Giridhar to the AP Chief Minister’s Office.

About his swearing-in, Mr Naidu said he would do it anytime after June 2 depending on an auspicious day.

It may be mentioned that May 24 was the last day for submission of details of employees in Seemandhra and Telangana to the Centre.

Speaking to the media at NTR Trust Bhavan, Mr Naidu said it was desire that both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh progress and develop simultaneously.

About Telangana leaders, including Telangana CM-in-waiting K. Chandrasekhar Rao issuing statements against Seemandhra employees, Mr Naidu said such provocative statements have had a bad impact on the brand image of Hyderabad for which he has worked hard.

“If anyone makes provocative speeches and false propaganda, I am ready to give them a befitting reply. Why are ‘war rooms’ being set and with whom are they going to wage war? If needed I will go to the war room too. The Congress has vanished by organising war rooms,” Mr Naidu said referring to the TRS setting up war room to track Seemandhra employees.

Mr Naidu left for New Delhi on Saturday evening to take part in a meeting of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) followed by swearing-in of Narendra Modi as Prime Minister on Monday. He said they would work jointly for development of the country.
