Telangana Congress MPs put blame on Digvijay, Jairam for poll defeat

Defeated MPs claim Singh did not bother about Congress victory

Hyderabad: Telangana Congress leaders have blamed the “unilateral and negligent attitude” of AICC general secretary and state party affairs in-charge Digvijay Singh as well as former Union minister Jairam Ramesh for the party’s dismal performance in the state.

Defeated Telangana Congress MPs, Ponnam Prabhakar, Madhu Yashki Goud, S. Rajaiah, Balaram Naik and Gutta Sukhendar Reddy held a review meeting at former Union minister S. Jaipal Reddy’s home in Delhi on Thursday.

The defeated Telangana Congress MPs admitted that they had failed to take the message that “the Congress had made Telangana statehood possible” to people.

They claimed Mr Singh did not bother about Congress victory and came for the election campaign at the last minute.

The Telangana leaders felt it would have been beneficial if they had tied up with the TRS.

They have now decided to meet AICC president Sonia Gandhi and explain the reasons for the defeat.
