Top cop vows to look into promotion issue of police officers

Khammam: Director-general of police B. Prasada Rao on Wednesday said the district police is capable of meeting the Maoist challenge.

Addressing a press meet after inaugurating several developmental works in the city, Mr Rao said that the police force, if well-equipped, was capable of facing any kind of situation, like confronting the challenges posed by the Maoists.

Referring to the three elections in the state in last two months, he commended the police personnel for ensuring the peaceful conduct of the polls.

“Wherever the police personnel may work, whether in Telangana or Andhra Pradesh, they should protect the people,” Mr Rao said.

He said that Greyhounds will extend their services to both the states after the bifurcation for three years. Admitting that there were some delays in the promotion process of inspector and DSP cadres, he said that soon there would be an action plan to rectify the situation.
