Japan PM follows 3 persons on Twitter, Narendra Modi one of them

Modi wrote on Twitter that Shinzo Abe had been in touch with him when he was Gujarat CM

Mumbai: Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe might be followed by lakhs of followers on Twitter but he follows just 3 persons, including Indian Prime Minister elect Narendra Modi. The other two followed by Abe are his 27-year-old wife Akie Abe and Naoki Inose, a Japanese journalist, historian, social critic and biographer of literary figures.

Abe, who regained power in 2012, had called up Modi to congratulate as soon as it became evident that he would be the next Indian PM.

Modi thanked Abe on Twitter for his wishes. He stated that the Japanese premier had been in touch with him during his term as Gujarat Chief Minister.

"Personally, I have a wonderful experience of working with Japan as CM. I am sure we will take India-Japan ties to newer heights," Modi tweeted.

A trip to Tokyo could also be on the cards - Modi is an admirer of Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. As chief minister of the state of Gujarat, he has developed strong ties with Japanese investors who have backed major infrastructure projects.
