Jagan Reddy: We expect a great deal of help from Narendra Modi

Jagan had a 30 minute meeting with Narendra Modi in the capital

New Delhi: Speaking to reporters after meeting Prime Minister-in-waiting Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Monday, YSR Congress president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy said, “The fact is that he already has 283 MPs. He does not need any of us. Andhra Pradesh needs him. We want our Prime Minister to be proactive. We expect a great deal of help from him.”

Mr Reddy said the YSRC would provide the Modi-led government “issue-based” support.

Sources said Mr Reddy was closeted with Mr Modi for nearly 30 minutes, after which he introduced his MPs to him, and submitted a memorandum. The fact that Mr Reddy met Mr Modi separately, without his delegation, has led to speculation that he might have broached the topic of the cases against him.

The meeting came days after the TD said it would pursue the cases against Mr Reddy with renewed vigour. TD chief N. Chandrababu Naidu said the law would take its own course when asked to comment on the future of cases against Mr Reddy.

During his interaction with reporters, Mr Reddy did not forget to attack the Congress for the “cruel” way that it “bifurcated” AP and “took away Hyderabad from us”.

In the memorandum submitted to Mr Modi, Mr Reddy asked him to entrust an OSD (officer on special duty) in the PMO to follow up with various departments to ensure all assurances given by the previous administration during the debate on the AP Reorganisation Bill, 2014, become a reality.
